GETTING TO AMBERGRIS CAYE

Ambergris Caye is located just off the coast of mainland Belize and is easily accessible.

Fly into Belize City International airport (BZE): Most international travelers arrive here.

Island hop by plane: Tropic Air or Maya Island Air offer quick, 15-minute flights to the island. This is our recommendation and if it's a clear day, you'll experience the most beautiful views that Belize has to offer. We have always used Tropic Air and been very pleased with them.

Take the ferry: A scenic 1.5-hour water taxi ride is also an option. This is the cheaper option, but keep in mind that you have to first take a taxi to the ferry port in Belize City.

Tip: If you're traveling with kids, especially younger ones, the flight is usually faster and more convenient.

WHERE TO STAY ON AMBERGRIS CAYE

There are plenty of family-friendly resorts and rentals on the island that offer space, amenities, and access to fun activities.

Mahogany Bay Resort: Great for families with older kids. It has spacious villas and access to a private beach club.

Ramon's Village Resort: (one of our favorites) A secluded tropical sanctuary, centrally located in town with a variety of accommodation styles

Grand Caribe Belize: A full-service resort with multiple pools and on-site dining.

getting around

Rent a golf cart to get around is a must. It’s the main mode of transportation on the island, and the kids love it! There are so many places to explore and great restaurants to try throughout the island and it's so much easier to do all that with a golf cart. It's definitely part of the experience of Ambergris Caye.

We highly recommend using Aviz Golf Cart Rental (click here) during your stay. They will work with to coordinate a smooth experience from pickup to drop-off. They have both 4 and 6 seater carts to rent and they are so easy to work with. Be sure to use CODE: family travel 20% for a discount on your next rental.
